Photo of the Week

As we were leaving the church and heading to the reception the bride requested a quick photo. She wanted an outdoor shot that displayed the beautiful Fall colors and also showed off her shoes! I also had the goal of portraying her relaxed and easy going personality. Mission accomplished!

Photo of the Week

Julie and Tim were married at the beautiful Tudor Place mansion in Georgetown. It rained for most of the day and even though they say that brings good luck I was still hoping for a brief break in the weather so we could explore the grounds without umbrellas! We finally got our chance halfway through the reception as the skies cleared and produced a really beautiful soft, glowing light. Julie and Tim were kind enough to join me for a stroll through the gardens and we were rewarded with this gorgeous romantic portrait.

Photo of the Week

This shot was taken during a recent wedding for Amber and Jeff in Virginia. The outdoor ceremony ended at sunset and we had just a few more moments to finish the formal portraits before the reception started. I wanted to get something really dramatic and I'm really happy with the results. I love the silhouette in the foreground as well as the perfect reflection of their faces in the door in the background. Shot with available light with a Nikon D700 and a 24-70 2.8 lens at ISO 6400!

Julie & Robby

I had so much fun at this wedding because it had all the elements I love. Great people, great location, and a well organized event. Even without an official coordinator this wedding ran more smoothly than most weddings with a coordinator! For couples planning your wedding I can't emphasize enough how important it is to be on time and have a well thought out realistic schedule. For this wedding I had several hours for getting ready photos as well as time for some fun portraits before the ceremony. This enabled us to really take advantage of the beautiful light in this gorgeous home. After the ceremony we finished all the traditional family shots and then they gave me extra time for some romantic, creative shots of the bride and groom before the reception. From then on it was a full speed party! Thanks Julie and Robby for letting me join you on your awesome wedding day!
